Greater Grand Rapids Ski Club

Four Seasons

Golf

GGRSC offers "Laid Back Golf" - a weekly opportunity to golf with other ski club friends without the weekly commitment. Just show up when it works out for you. We also frequently organize spring and fall golf weekends. Check out the ACTIVITIES LIST for more details.

Biking

Bike at an easy pace on one of the local bike trails. Rides are held on the same day each week but trails vary each month. Click on the ACTIVITIES LIST to find details.

Sailing

Every year in August, the club arranges for members to enjoy a Saturday afternoon sailing on beautiful 25' to 45'sailboats out of Muskegon. The day includes brunch, sailing all afternoon (weather permitting) and optional dinner and dancing in the evening. Click on the ACTIVITIES LIST to find out more.

Downhill Skiing

We're a ski club, right? Greater Grand Rapids Ski Club (emphasis on the "Greater") has brought together everything from one day bus trips to 2 week trips to Australia (which means skiing in August). Each winter we do four 1 day trips, one or two weekend trips and usually 3 trips out west or to Europe. In addition we will hold 1 or 2 "Learn to Ski" instructional weekends and we can help you get into racing at local ski areas. There's more! Check out the site and come to some of our events. We'll be glad to give you the low-down!

Motorcycle Tours

New to our activity list in 2005, the Motorcycle Tours have been a big hit. One day trips that make for a wonderful with other bikers - and we can even help arrange find a ride for non-owners who want to come along. Watch the calendar for more details

Camping

Summer camping trips (most recently to Mackinac City) have started to become annual events. Folks have enjoyed camp fires on the beach and day trips to scenic areas in the vicinity plus the ever popular pot-luck dinner and sometimes a special, scenic route home. Watch more info - this is usually a July event.

Cross Country Skiing

We have many cross country skiers in our club and over the last few years we have worked at increasing the number of opportunities those folks. We have even made an effort to have a regular weekly event at a local cross country area. Watch for more cross country skiing outings and remember, cross country skiing is nearly always available at the resorts where we downhill. Talk with other members at the TGIF parties or sign up for one of our 1 day or weekend trips and give it a whirl.

Bank One Picnic Pops Concerts

1 or 2 times each summer we go to Cannonsburg and join up with other ski club members for a great concert and picnic. It's a great time and as the title suggests, bring along food and drink plus a comfortable lawn chair and chow down.

Whitewater Rafting

We have made two or three trips down toward the Appalachian Mountains in search of liquid excitement - the kind where the river throws you around a bit as you dodge rocks and work to stay upright. Well, these trips are tame enough that they (probably) aren't really dangerous but I've heard that they are plenty exciting and afford just one more option for you fun-loving-thrill-seekers!
